Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Electronic equipment production is one of the major industrial sectors in Indonesia, as it also contributes to Indonesia’, s export commodities, which increase because of rapid technological developments. Cell phones, which have considerable potential to become electronic waste, recorded the enormous escalation in electronic production. This research aimed to increase community involvement and the collection of used cell phones from households in e-waste management in Indonesia. A survey was conducted to explore a household’, s environmental awareness and willingness to recycle based on sociodemographics, environmental hazard awareness, and used cell phone usage in Jabodetabek, Indonesia. METHODS: In this research, a peer questionnaire was used and organized into five sections: The first section contained the sociodemographic details of the respondents. The second section comprised multiple concerns that relate to recycling and environmental awareness. The third section contained the family cell phone information. The fourth section determined the cell phone consumer behavior. The fifth section consisted of willingness to recycle. Statistical correlations between variables were assessed, and the chi-square independence test was used to evaluate the statistical correlations. FINDINGS: Mostly the households will replace their used cell phone if there is damage (66. 84%) and keep the used cell phone at home (59. 5%), thus becoming an obstacle in applying the appropriate recycling system and a circular economy. The average cell phone ownership in Jabodetabek is 1. 28 units, and the average cell phone life span of people in Jabodetabek is 2. 6 years. The Environmental Hazard Awareness variable has significant differences with occupation and income level (p-value = 0. 028 and 0. 046), Used Cellphone Usage variable has significant differences with the income level variable (p-value = 0. 024). The others, a statistically significant difference between sociodemographic variable and Willingness to Recycle was observed,p-value = 0. 003 for age and p-value = 0. 034 for occupation. CONCLUSION: This paper showed that Environmental Hazard Awareness and Willingness to Recycle have an important role in increasing the collection of used cell phones from households. . This study assessed community-based factors located in urban areas. The factors could encourage their participation in collection activities, obtain information on the preferred collection channels of residents, and provide a perspective for managing cell phones through an analysis of the improvements and influences of Indonesia’, s current e-waste recycling program. Therefore, to develop a new strategy, the findings of this study can provide insights into the e-waste problem and citizen’, s awareness of e-waste management.

Abstract:

The center of the political, economic and cultural buildings in Iran is Tehran, where almost the entire city is on a fault and is at risk. Other problems such as over-population, vehicles, worn tissue, etc. cause environmental pollution and unsustainable city residents; therefore, city managers are too much worried. That has led them to think and provide strategies to solve problems, particularly in the context of environmental problems caused by the wear in the metropolis. This study aimed to evaluate the improvement of environmental awareness in Tehran of those who were worn tissue repair experts. Applied research and descriptive research methods have been deployed. The awareness of the seven aspects of the environment of these experts were attempted and the results are shown in this research. The concepts of environmental awareness of environmental experts were shown to have been satisfactory, but in other aspects they were recognized as unaware. Experts were found in various aspects to differ by gender. Knowledge also plays a significant role in the perception of these experts.

Abstract:

This paper reports part of the findings of a two- group semi-experimental design study with pre and post test, conducted in 2012, that focused on the effect of podcast with participatory method on students immediate and long term environmental learning compared to conventional teaching (lecture and group discussion) method. Two classes from a female school were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Participants in experimental group were asked to design podcast on environmental issues and students in control group were exposed to conventional method of teaching for a period of 8 sessions. The covariance analysis of the data revealed that teaching method had a significant influence on students’ immediate and long-term learning. In fact, the mean score of participants in experimental group was significantly higher than in control group in both immediate and long-term tests. Considering Eta squared coefficient indicates that implementing participatory designing of podcasts in environmental education can account for 31 percent of students’ immediate and 40 percent of their long-term learning.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Despite the various environmental challenges the hotel sector faces, there is a significant need to resolve them by applying sustainable techniques like green human resource management. As a result, there is a pressing need to investigate how green human resource management may improve environmental performance. This study investigates the causal linkage among environmental awareness, green human resource management, green behaviours, green performance, and servant leadership. METHODS: The data were collected via Questionnaires obtained from employees working in hotels in Amman, Jordan (52. 5 per cent response rate). To evaluate the model, Smart Partial Least Square was employed to conduct validity and reliability testing and develop structural equation modeling. FINDINGS: According to the results, Environmental awareness mediated the effects of green human resource management and green behaviours on green performance. Green HRM was found to have a direct and substantial impact on Green Performance (β,= 0. 109, p < 0. 005). A positive and statistically significant relationship between Green Behaviors and Green Performance was also found (β,= 0. 338, p < 0. 000). Additionally, Green HRM has a favorable and significant effect on Environmental Awareness (β,= 0. 176, p < 0. 0001). Furthermore, Environmental Awareness is positively and significantly influenced by Green Behaviors (β,= 0. 743, p < 0. 000). Green performance positively relates to environmental consciousness (β,= 0. 186, p < 0. 000). CONCLUSION: Based on social cognition, social exchange, and social learning theory, this study contains theoretical insights, practical implications, and positive recommendations for hospitality managers and scholars. Current research is critical because it emphasizes environmental stewardship in industries that directly connect to and influence the environment, such as tourism and hospitality. The study does not examine environmental performance and behavior in general but instead evaluates pro-environmental behaviors in depth by considering green behaviour.

Abstract:

Water is one of the most important resources on earth. However, due to the drought crisis in Iran and the need to save water and study the determinants, this study was conducted to predict environmental behavior by relying on water consumption behavior based on environmental awareness, attitude, and concern. The research is a survey in which 865 citizens of Kermanshah City answered the research questionnaires by cluster sampling. The data was analyzed by statistical methods using SPSS software. The results showed that the variables of environmental knowledge (31 %), environmental concern (34 %), and environmental attitude (54 %) have the ability to predict the environmental behavior of water consumption. Therefore, people with higher knowledge, concerns and environmental attitudes are more diligent in saving water. According to the results of this study, explaining environmental behavior using three variables of environmental knowledge, environmental attitude, and environmental concern can be suggested to implementers and policymakers for use in developing interventions and educational campaigns and raising people's environmental awareness and knowledge. Also, these results can increase the paying attention to their environmental attitudes toward water consumption, can demonstrate that water conservation is realistic and practicable for people, and can convince them that they can engage in conservation-related behaviors. These results have the potential to raise people's awareness of their environmental attitudes about water consumption, illustrate that water conservation is feasible and achievable for them, and persuade them that they can engage in conservation-related actions.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Plastic waste in Indonesia increased significantly during the Covid-19 pandemic. With this surge in plastic consumption and waste, awareness of environmental sanitation becomes essential, especially regarding the use of plastic. Society must consider the impact of single-use plastics and implement good plastic waste management. This study aimed to determine the environmental awareness of a community and what factors contributed to its plastic waste utilization activities during the Covid-19 pandemic.METHODS: The data collection in this study was conducted using a questionnaire with a cross-sectional analytical approach. The study was conducted in Makassar City, South Sulawesi, the largest city in Eastern Indonesia, and purposive sampling was used to determine selected respondents. Data analysis was carried out using chi-square to identify partial relationships and logistic regression to distinguish relationships simultaneously.FINDINGS: This study found that 53.2 percent of respondents frequently used plastic during the Covid-19 pandemic. Partial relationship analysis showed that general knowledge about waste and its impact was not significantly related to plastic use activities during the pandemic. Meanwhile, knowledge about plastic use during the pandemic, knowledge of protecting the environment, attitudes toward plastic use, attitudes toward waste management, behavior toward plastic use, and behavior regarding processing plastic waste were significantly related to plastic use activities during the Covid-19 pandemic, with respective test values of 0.000 each. Willingness to pay was also significantly related to plastic use activities during the pandemic, with a test value of 0.007. Simultaneous analysis showed that knowledge about plastic use during the pandemic was related to plastic use activities during the same time frame, with an odds ratio value of 0.398 and a negative relationship direction. Plastic waste-processing behavior was the most dominant factor influencing plastic use activities during the Covid-19 pandemic, with a test value of 0.000 and a positive relationship direction. Respondents who did not have good waste management behavior were 3.963 times more likely to use plastic frequently in their daily activities during the pandemic.CONCLUSION: The study results show the importance of increasing knowledge regarding plastic use and waste management. Good knowledge will intervene in attitudes that encourage good behavior. This study focuses on the relationship between plastic processing behavior and the intensity of plastic use during the Covid-19 pandemic. It emphasizes the need for intervention in the form of education about the importance of protecting the environment and providing facilities that enable people to implement good waste-processing behavior.
